Thomas Evans, Trustee
Tom Evans retired in January 2010 as President of The Felton Bank, a subsidiary of Shore Bancshares, Inc. of Easton, Maryland. Prior to joining The Felton Bank, He worked for Bank of America and its predecessor, Maryland National Bank, for 27 years. Mr. Evans served as Chairman of the Mid-Delmarva Family YMCA and the American Heart Association of the Eastern Shore. He has served on the Board of the United Way and is a past member of The Greater Salisbury Committee and the Rotary Club of Salisbury. He and his wife Maria, reside in Salisbury. They have two daughters and one grandchild.



Stephen R. Farrow, Trustee
Steve Farrow is the President and CEO of Piedmont Airlines, a subsidiary of US Airways. He has been with the airline for more than 25 years and prior to that served as an officer in the US Navy for 21 years. Farrow is a graduate of Dartmouth College and a native of Pennsylvania. He and his wife Donna reside in Salisbury, MD. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.





Gordon D. Gladden, Trustee
Gordon D. Gladden retired in 2004 as President of Avery W. Hall Insurance Agency, Inc. having worked there 32 years. A community leader, Gordon served as President of The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, President of The Rotary Club of Salisbury, President of Salisbury Wicomico Economic Development and Chairman of The Board of Trustees at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Gordon has been a trustee of the Richard A Henson Foundation since 1992. Gordon and his wife, Mary Sue, are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury.




Victor H. Laws, III, Trustee
Vic is a partner in the law firm of Laws & Laws, P.A. and has been in the practice of law locally since 1978, with a concentration in business, real estate and civil litigation.  He graduated from Wicomico County Schools, Brown University and the University of Maryland School of Law.  He is on the Board of Directors for Hebron Savings Bank, a member of the Salisbury Award Committee, Wicomico Rotary Club, a member and former Trustee of Asbury United Methodist Church.    Recently, he retired as United States Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court of Maryland, a position he held for 24 years.  Previous community activities include; Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Greater Salisbury Committee, Leadership Maryland, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and coach to the James M. Bennett High School mock trial team.  Vic is a past President of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and past Chairman of the Wicomico County Task Force, which helped to bring minor league baseball to the Eastern Shore.  He and his wife Jean, a partner at Laws & Sarbanes, reside in Salisbury.  They have two adult children, Michael and Jessica.


Gregory J. Olinde, Trustee
Greg Olinde is a Executive Vice President/Chief Lending Officer at the National Bank of Cambridge. He joined the bank in January 2013, having started his career in banking and business in 1993. Currently, Greg is chairman of the Greater Salisbury Committee, a member of the Executive Advisory Council to the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University and a member of the Board of Directors for SWED. He graduated from Salisbury University’s Henson School of Science & Technology in 1990 and Perdue School of Business and Maryland Banking School in 1992. He and his wife have three children and reside in Fruitland.



Jon Sherwell, Trustee
Jon Sherwell is an Administrative Vice President of M & T Bank. A life-long native of the Eastern Shore, prior to merger with M & T Bank, Jon worked for the former First National Bank of Maryland/Allfirst Bank. He served as President of the United Way of the Eastern Shore, President of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Greater Salisbury Committee and on the board of the Wicomico County Board of Education. He currently serves on the Wicomico County Executive’s Council of Economic Advisors. Past board memberships include Salisbury Wicomico Economic Development, Junior Achievement, Mid-Delmarva YMCA and the Salvation Army. He is a graduate of Western Maryland College (McDaniel College), the Maryland Bankers School– College Park, attended classes at Salisbury University and completed the Columbia University Graduate School of Business Bank Leadership Executive Education Program. Jon and his wife Linda have three children and reside near Salisbury, Maryland.



Thomas L. Trice, IV, Trustee
Tom Trice is a certified public accountant and a founding member of the TGM Group LLC, a local CPA firm based in Salisbury, Maryland. He has practiced public accounting for over 40 years. He is a member and past president of the Greater Salisbury Committee, a graduate and member of Leadership Maryland, and a member of the Board of Visitors at The University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Tom is a graduate of Western Maryland College. He and his wife Charlotte reside near Salisbury, Maryland and have three sons and seven grandchildren.



Donna S. Altvater, Executive Director
Donna Altvater is the Executive Director of the Richard A. Henson Foundation, a position she has held since 1999. She also manages the day-to-day operations of the Greater Salisbury Building, owned by the Foundation. She has more than 30 years of business administration experience in the public, private and non-profit sector. She and her husband, Mark, reside in Salisbury.




Trustees of the Richard A. Henson Foundation, Inc. are involved in many community activities as volunteers, donors, and members of boards and advisory committees. The Foundation requires disclosure by trustees of involvement in organizations applying to the Foundation.  They must also abstain from voting on the application of any organization in which they are involved.
